To me, this session is similar to the excellent Steeplechase recordings from October 1979. Here we have another intimate setting (just guitar and bass) and Chet is in excellent shape. Philip Catherine's playing is always fresh and exciting. Chet's playing is crisp and clean. He plays long solos that always present something new. This is perhaps one of Chet's finest sessions in his 35 years of recording. The material that Chet made for Criss Cross, SteepleChase and Timeless is some of his best, but unfortunately it is very hard to find these recording today.
