Lincare is paid to rent oxygen equipment to patients, with HHS covering most of the monthly bills. But those rental fees often add up to many times what it would cost simply to buy the equipment.

@ProPublica I worked in a rural WV community in an office beside a Lincare place. One day they just stopped paying their rent, didn't tell their patients they were leaving the community. Wanted these folks to return their O2 concentrators, but to a location 45 minutes away. Lincare delivered the equipment initially but never offered to pick it up.
