I've been asked the same questions a few times, so in response to people's questions about #pixelfed :

Q.Why bother to have a separate Pixelfed account when you already have a federated Mastodon account?

A. I use this primary account as a space to blow off steam, relax, direct the busyness in my mind (which usually comes out as a tidal wave of nonsense and silliness) and also as my beloved Fedi community. I really like the idea of there being a different space where I can be a bit more serious and don't feel the compulsion to turn everything into a joke. I'd like the space to post images I find poignant or beautiful without my usual brand of chaotic madness. And I find posting photos more of an *at* rather than a *with* engagement. 😊

Q. Why post your images online where they're available to be scraped?

A. It's a choice. Whilst I'm obviously not keen on scrapers, the only alternative seems to be to live in fear of them so not to post publicly. Which I am not going to do. I was told recently some of my posts are making their way to Bluesky without me. Whilst I choose not to engage in that platform I've set up a mirror account there so that people can at least reference who I am back at my Fedi home accounts.
