很多人误以为本片是吉卜力的作品，其实也难怪，导演片渊须直和宫崎骏都曾在“世界名著剧场”系列混过。片渊曾参与名著系列的《名犬莱西》、《七海的堤可》、和吉卜力的《魔女宅急便》的制作。PS：DVD版的翻译很差劲，译得较好的有诸神字幕组（kamigami）的版本。
