读过《Milkman》读了一部分，暂弃。Burns的语言太缠绕，加上小说中的人物、身份、地点甚至历史背景都没有明确的指称。结构松散，情节缓滞，常常夹杂着Middle sister意识流式的回忆以及对历史、政治、两性、宗教......的思考。事实上，只要读上两页你就可以很明确地感知到作者非常独特的叙事音色和措辞技巧。这是一本需要时间和耐心消化的书，等回看后二次评分。

But when first brother-in-law, who of course had sniffed it out, told his wife, her first sister, to tell her mother to come and have a talk with her, middle sister becomes ‘interesting’. The last thing she ever wanted to be. To be interesting is to be noticed and to be noticed is dangerous…
