Not a crowd pleaser but a competent low-budget sci-fi. IMDB's voters have been dumber than usual with their ratings and RT's critics haven't bothered to watch it, but it's a slow paced, atmospheric movie that doesn't hold the viewer's hand and doesn't try to bite more than it can chew. I respect that.
If you're a patient nerd and, unlike IMDB voters, can connect the dots by yourself, there's an effective little story and world-building here, even if both are more implied than shown.
If I had to spell it out: this isn't a xenomorph movie, it'w a Weyland Yutani movie.
