The Man and the Girl stood there, staring at the dense fog. Only the oppressive silence was denser.

"How'd you get here?" asked the Man. "I was going home with Mom, a car emerged from the fog and hit us head on. And you?" There was a pause before he was able to speak. "I was driving the other car, it was too late when I noticed you. I'm sorry". A longer pause. "Are we dead?" He looked around: "I think so". "Mom is OK then" she said softly "Let's go"

They held hands as they walked into the fog.
