Only if one of your mutuals comments, like or boosts said post. Otherwise you can follow hashtags using fedibuzz or subscribe to a relay and follow hashtags from it.

It's funny, because I have a half-written forums app lying around that has the same vibe/look/lack of JS (though it's in Go, not C).
