@mdione the current implementation is more like a "nice-to-have" feature, so there's a whole bunch of conditions for it to show up, give a small hint that it's there but try not to take up too much space. If it doesn't show up, the ALT badge will still be there for users to open and see the whole alt text.

The reason for the conditional rendering is that it's still experimental (Phanpy is the only web app that does this, and maybe @fedicat (iOS))
