@mirabilos @rl_dane It's not the insistence on the _name_ itself I view as harmful, it's the underlying philosophy, and the closed-mindedness. It's the "you're a _bad person_ if you think this is acceptable" attitude.
"I'm offended on behalf of other people with whom I have not consulted, and thus _you_ need to _change_."
🍵That's the "white neoliberal with more time than sense" kind of attitude I alluded to before.
Not that I'm accusing anyone here of that. It just kinda whiffs of it in general.
But I can respect someone wanting the name to not have negative associations/connotations for noble reasons.
Every time I've had a confrontation with a "neoliberal" it felt like arguing with a "far right" individual. Closed mindedness is closed mindedness, no matter what views you have.
