I'm not sure government fedi accounts need to accept incoming messages in the first place anyway. Just drop all replies and cut out the whole moderation issue. Nobody is under any pretence for years that politicians seriously engage with twitter replies anyway, so lets do away with that assumption altogether
if for some reason politicians are interested in actual responses and opinions of their constituents, reading social media comments is bad praxis anyway.
The fun part of activitypub is that people could still respond, their replies would just only be visible on their own server, and the ones they federate with. totally fine and not a problem of the gov what people are saying in response that way
