整部片的作画和配乐都有一种吉卜力的氛围，连导演本人也承认因为幽灵公主而决定去拍电影的，但在别的色彩搭配和角色塑造上能看出有法国graphic novel及拉美鲜艳风格的影响，尤其在scotia theatre imax大屏幕看能更好地欣赏作画细节和动作的流畅。剧本上也是混搭了各种adolescence sci-fi时空穿越的元素， 配角如彩虹三胞胎和机器管家更是贡献了大部分的煽情和搞笑片段。 但缺点就是还是缺少动画里如今敏般天马行空的想象力和未来世界的细节塑造，结尾有一些穿越片段虽精彩但时长也偏短，整部片的基调还是想给人们带来朴素的希望和对科技的反思，虽缺乏深度但给青少年看看也真的够了。
