Misty Mountain Pagoda
Sneaking out from the western suburbs of Chang'an, you might chance upon a pecu liar inn chanting counterfeit sutras. Slip down the back mountain while your master indulges in a secret drink, only to discover livestock gathered for a midnight assembly. As you pass through a grand ceremony at the gate of a foreign land, you glance upward to behold a purple sun.
This album embodies oriental psychedelic rock, blending imagined ethnic elements into a dreamlike fusion. It improvises soundtracks for a hypothetical visual journey: birds cry as they navigate the valleys, while the udu drum echoes the uneven steps of a camel. The guitar alternates between mimicking the sound of a suona, shimmering with the metallic brilliance of ceremonial horns, and threading delicately with the bass to weave intricate bead curtains. Beneath the veil of the shakuhachi, free improvisation takes bold flight, transcending celestial tribulations through cycles of noise and chaos.

Formed in 2019, this improv / psychedelic rock band weaves tales of Xiyu (Western Regions of China) and crafts apocryphal sutras. They aim to capture the brilliance of spontaneous creativity, yet often fall short—much like one can never step into the same Khunathi River twice.
The Khunathi River (Qiunaodihe) lies approximately 200 miles southwest of the western section of the Karakoram. According to legend, anyone who drinks from its waters will be compelled to dance non-stop.
Later, anatomists identified a neural center responsible for motor control and named it the subthalamic nucleus (Qiunaodihe) in honor of this mythical connection.
