Charlie’s debut EP cleanly captures his knack for tasteful, soulful pop and wraps it in a succinct package. The songs are presented with a daring intimacy, and give glimpses of his inimitable artistic brooding. “Pedestal” and “What Can I Do” are sassy numbers oozing flirtatious satire, while the tidal crescendos in “There Is No Love” and the apocalyptic “Rust” release despair and hope in the same breath. Such a well-balanced effort promises greatness for Charlie’s upcoming full-length album, due in 2012.
Since its release, Charlie Lim’s EP has garnered support across several radio stations in Australia and made the Top 10 of PBS 106.7 FM’s charts. Singapore Airlines has also selected it to be on rotation for their in-flight programs.
