Fear of Flying

Fear of Flying is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Mýa. Released April 25, 2000 on Interscope Records, recording sessions for the album took place during late 1999 to early 2000. Mýa worked with a wide range of producers and songwriters on the album. These included Rodney Jerkins, Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean, Knobody, Robin Thicke, Tricky Stewart, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to embrace a more mature sound. Harrison described Fear of Flying as a metaphor for the ups and downs of life. It has a theme of handling things like an adult, and knowing you must have faith to make anything happen. Mýa experimented with many different genres of music, such as reggae, soul, and hip-hop, thus departing from the conventional structure of her debut studio album Mýa (1998). It was the sound of a budding composer and song stylist discovering her creative voice and reflections of being in love for the very first time, experience success, and the fears of fame.
