简介
Four years since releasing La Di Da Di, Battles are back in action, now operating as a duo. Multi-instrumentalist Ian Williams and drummer John Stanier have announced that their next record is called Juice B Crypts and will be out October 18 on Warp. With the announcement, the band has released a new song, “Titanium 2 Step,” which features Sal Principato of Liquid Liquid.
Principato is one of several guests joining Battles on Juice B Crypts. Other contributors include Shabazz Palaces, Tune-Yards, Xenia Rubinos, Yes frontman Jon Anderson, and Taiwanese psych band 落差草原 WWWW (aka Prairie WWWW). ”[Juice B Crypts is] about chord progressions, resolutions, returning home,” Ian Williams said in a statement. “Take that and throw it into a blender of modern electronic tools like glitching devices, or use melodic lines and take them and regurgitate them and pulverize the traditional stuff but at the same time try and retain harmonic relationships while completely smashing them up.”
