Vimalakirti (维摩)

We’re excited to share our latest single, Vimalakirti, which draws inspiration from the late '90s and early 2000s progressive metal scene—think somewhere between Symphony X and Dream Theater. This track delivers all the hallmarks of the genre: odd time signatures, extended voicings, polymeters, intricate instrumentation, and soaring melodic vocals - but not without our spin, namely the Motown-esque horn section and funky guitars, the Holdsworth influenced guitar solo, and multi-layered vocals reminiscent of a choir.

Vimalakirti was a wise layperson in Buddhist teachings, known for his deep understanding of nonduality. When asked to explain the ultimate truth, he responded with silence, showing that reality goes beyond words and concepts. The lyrics reflect this idea—that all things are beyond speech, perception, and definition.
