résumé

One of the early recordings of Dufay's most famous mass, along with one of Obrecht's most ambitious compositions. The Missa Sub tuum praesidium starts with three voices in the Kyrie, adding one in every movement to reach a seven-voice Agnus Dei. Along the way, Obrecht also quotes various Marian chants in different voices, creating a complex texture which at times includes four different texts sounding at once.
