Based on Frank Wedekind s 1891 German play of the same title, Spring Awakening is a rock musical adaptation composed by Duncan Sheik with book and lyrics by Steven Sater. This 2006 smash hit won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score. The show also gave Lea Michele, currently starring in Fox s television show Glee , her first Drama Desk Nomination for her role as Wendla.
There are 38 tracks on this album: Tracks 1-19 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 20-38 contain the accompaniment tracks alone. This album is a re-recording in the original show key and show tempo.
