Grotto

object blue makes a theatrical return to TT with a new audio-visual EP Grotto. Released on Friday 5th March, this 5-track EP follows the release of her breakthrough debut 'Do you plan to end a siege?' in 2018 on the label.
Characterized by fleshy synths and drawing on the fantastical, blue’s pinpoint percussion guides listeners through scenes of both lushness and macabre. Opening track ‘ Opened Close ’ creases its anthemic synth line in on itself, hinting at a hedonic visitation that never comes to be. ‘ Fugitive’s Focus’ orchestral summons follows, with bass-heavy rhythmic patterns assuring us of the gravity of the moment. Now is
not the time to flee.
As the squeeze gives way to the cavern, ‘ Exorcism of a self-help book’s’ disarranged messages scratch their way towards the light. Fairytale echoes of the rave punctuate claggy walls with smooth, lush moss. Its droplets shiver through thundering bass and crystallised clicks in ‘ Procession Of Healers’ as chaotic whimsy persists abound. The final track ‘ Closed Open’ comes upon a vocal apparition whose lamentation
arrives in loops and coils. The work’s undeniable presence leaves listeners both held and shaken; with unspoken knowledge thrown into spectral relief.
Grotto is released via TT on Friday 5th March.
