Janet Jackson于1997年推出的一张专辑。她从这张专辑开始摆脱了过去的邻家女孩形象，曲风也随之变得性感、自白、随心所欲。“hi-pop soul”，在保持soul的吟唱风格的同时，辅以hi-pop的节奏，十分动听。专辑中有许多热门歌曲，比如请到Joni Mitchell 和 Q-Tip助阵的"Got 'Til It's Gone"，以及Rod Stewart的 "Tonight's the Night"，主打歌Velvet Rope也有Vanessa Mae助阵。这张专辑为她赢得葛莱美奖和VH-1 Fashion Award在内的10余项大奖，是90年代流行音乐的杰作。有趣的是，由于Janet Jackson在这张专辑中唱风的改变很大，专辑在商业上并不算成功（相对她本人的其它专辑而言），“只”卖了380万张。但此后的巡演则大获成功，在欧洲共有32场全部爆满的演唱会。
