《诗经》是中国历史上第一部诗歌总集。收录了从西周初期（公元前十一世纪）到春秋中叶（公元前六世纪）约500年间的305篇诗。这305篇诗，先秦只称《诗》或《诗三百》，汉代以後成为儒家经典，才叫做《诗经》。
《诗经》305篇分为《风》《雅》《颂》三大类。在先秦，它们都是乐歌。
