In this warm human-interest story, a 12-year-old boy discovers by accident that he is adopted, and sets out on a quest to find his identity through his biological parents - but first he must find the children's home that signed him over to his present mother. His mother is married to a man younger than herself, and she worries about keeping the relationship going, unwittingly leaving her son somewhat marginated. It was in a moment of emotional duress during a discussion with her husband that she revealed her son was adopted - and the little boy overhears. Each day after school, he goes to search for the children's home. His activities do not take long to arouse the curiosity of his parents, and by talking to his teacher, the mother becomes aware that he must be looking for his origins. Knowing that once he finds the home the rest of the information would be easy to obtain, his mother faces the issue of confronting her son with what she knows, and hoping that it will not destroy the bond that ties them together. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
