Letters to Paul Morrissey (2018)

Five stories where their characters confess their problems, concerns and intimacy to the NY filmmaker Paul Morrissey. The leads share the same problems of his characters: drugs, vampirism, fear to the passing of time, existential crisis.
This film is one of a kind: a strongly personal, original, accomplished and odd cinematic proposal, totally devoted to the ’indie avantgarde hero’ Paul Morrissey. An epistolary film tribute to the man behind the experimental films in The Factory and the success of The Velvet Underground.
Shot in 16mm, black and white negative format, with the aesthetics of typical grainy image of photochemical film, the film embodies the atmosphere and scent of independent filmmaking and free art. Made with reels of diverse emulsions with different expirations the film has the randomness that each art work needs while indulges us with infinity of textures and shades. Enigmatic, intimate, engaging and mesmerizing all at once, the film’s different episodes bring us to the underground NYC era, including narrations by William Burroughs or the presence of the actor legend Joe Dallesandro. All together for making something really special, a film to honour Andy Warhol’s main collaborator in The Factory.
