簡介
地球人亞瑟厄運連連、諸事不順，一天起床卻發現自家因為在高速公路預定地上而面臨拆除的命運，同時他的好福特前來告訴他地球將在十二分鐘內毀滅。 一開始，亞瑟並不相信福特的話，直到他倆搭上了福頁人的宇宙飛船，並目睹地球因為銀河高速公路計劃而被炸毀。原來，他的好友福特是外星人，並且以撰寫「星際旅遊指南」（The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy）而成為宇宙知名作家。 在一陣混亂後，倆人遇上了憂鬱的機器人馬文、他心儀的地球女孩崔蘭與有兩顆頭的白痴銀河總統呼拉，在被認為是綁架總統的綁匪，與後有追兵的情況下，展開了一場星際之旅，並且改變了對人生的看法。 究竟地球誰製造出來的？上帝是否真有其事？一條毛巾又有何用處？
