旧作終了から18年後の1986年に「ロボタン」がカラー作品としてリメイクされました。キー局はよみうりテレビ、15分×２話で全66話、３クールほどの変則放映でした。再び森田拳次が企画に協力し画の雰囲気も前作と近いものになっています。色が着いているかいないかだけで僕には余り違和感がなかったです。ただストーリーの方は20年近い時代の流れがありますから、かなり違っています。

女子プロレスもののOVA。「メガゾーン23」シリーズなどを手がけてきたAICとアートミックの作品だけあって若干のSF的趣向も加味されている。
森田ミキと風間エリはリングネーム「ウォナビーズ」として知られる女子プロレス界のアイドル的存在。二人とも整った顔立ちと端整なプロポーションがアピールポイントだ。ライバル格の「フォクシーレディース」のコンビから目のカタキにされているウォナビーズの二人だが、ミキとエリの強さにはある秘密が隠されていた。実は、二人には人工的な超人＝ハイパワード人間を生み出すためのエキスが投与されていたのだ。もちろんそんなこととは知らないミキとエリだったが。
本作のキャラクターデザインはアートミックの看板作家でもある園田健一が担当。客演の声優にデーモン小暮と古館伊知郎が本人の役どころで出演している。
