《魔法阿媽2》確定推出，目前劇本初稿已完成，工作團隊正在進行角色設定與繪稿討論的前製作業，20年後的阿嬤及豆豆將現身，讓粉絲超級期待。
這回經由集資以及文策院補助修復上映的《魔法阿媽》，暗藏的驚喜「彩蛋」算是第二部作品的超前導預告，至於屆時會出現誰的身影，就有待上映時揭曉。不過，《魔法阿媽2》雖在前期籌備階段，電影公司仍加碼透露，新故事中同樣帶有魔幻色彩外，黑貓「酷羅」、大白狗「西羅」也將以新風貌呈現。
同時，新作品最大爆點即是會出現20年後的阿嬤以及豆豆，另更會有「80年前的小阿嬤」誕生，這位「小阿嬤」為何現身？屆時勢必成為關注焦點，同時也是目前團隊中討論的故事重點。
導演王小棣會再啟動第二部作品，是因認為編劇兼製片黃黎明、音樂家史擷詠、動畫作家麥人杰及好多動畫創作者的「在地原創精神」，都應該傳承下去。其中《魔法阿媽》原始工作團隊王登鈺、陳偉松、莊正彬等，皆繼續在第二部作品中擔任主創團隊，而王小棣除了同樣擔任導演外，也是《魔法阿媽2》的編劇。
導演王小棣深刻感受到《魔法阿媽》自上映後的20多年以來，已經累積了兩代以上的「兒童觀眾」，「這些當年的兒童現今已經進入各行各業，從汽機車修理、家庭主婦，到老師、銀行員、醫護人員…我們都曾經短暫的面對面，聽到他們表達當年的鮮明記憶」。不論在去年啟動修復計劃或者第二部作品的開發，皆非一念之間，而是長期情感累積的孵化。
