Set in Sri Lanka during the mid-1990s, August Sun tells three simultaneous stories against the backdrop of the country's savage civil war (1983 – 2009).

Follows three high schoolers mistakenly transported to a brutal medieval world. Falling in with unlikely comrades caught in a civil war, the teens fight for survival as they search for a way back home.

When an architect accepts a morally ambiguous project — building a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire — his wife begins to question their marriage after 17 years together.

An adaptation of Shyam Selvadurai's 1994 novel Funny Boy, the film centres on the coming of age of Arjie Chelvaratnam, a young Tamil boy in Sri Lanka who is coming to terms with his homosexuality against the backdrop of the increased tensions between Tamil and Sinhalese people before the breakout of the Sri Lankan Civil War.
