Four love stories which portray a wide gamut of emotions and desires against the backdrop of Rio de Janeiro. "Elephant's Stomp" : the story of a highway patrol officer who is infatuated with a mulatto dancer at a local nightclub. "Drao" : a publicity man and a boutique owner who face a crises in their marriage. "You Are Beautiful" : two homeless teenagers seek love amidst their personal misery. "Samba of the Great Passion" : a book maker who is charmed and captivated by the voice of a female singer coming from a building across the street. Characters in search of love in order to escape from the boredom, loneliness and helplessness of their lives.

Middle-class family reform their apartment, and the noise, the contact with the workers and strange occurrences turn what was supposed to be a trivial matter into a trip to hell.

A fantasy/mystery about the disappearance of a lighthouse owner and his daughter. This film takes a simple story and tells it in a layered and time-spliced fashion that is truly unique. A group of sailors arrive at an island. They are there to deliver supplies to the lighthouse and investigate why no radio contact for some time. The place is as deserted and eerie as that in L'Avventura and only yields it's secrets through a series of set pieces weaving timelines in the story together, delivering the events that lead to the current point in time. Characters from different times walk through the same scenes, commenting on each others actions as the drama unfolds on camera.
