Starts a love story between an art student and a medical student, narrated from Monday to Sunday.

Film that includes three short films by different authors about love: "O pacto" by Eduardo Coutinho, "Terrible Night" by Rodolfo Kuhn, and "Magic World" by Helvio Soto.

This film was finished just after the election of Salvador Allende, the only Marxist candidate ever elected in a democratic way in the world. It accomplishes very well to show us the atmosphere that could be felt in those days (personally I was not alive then), where both sides, left and right wing, had their own segmentation: those who felt that the armed way was a solution, and those that believed in a more democratic way. The director declared himself Marxist, and the film is a small window of the processes happening in the left side of politics in Chile just before and after Salvador Allende came to the power. A possible coup was in the air, even 3 years it actually happened. Afer 1973, the director escaped to France, where he made other movies like "llueve sobre Santiago" (it rains over Santiago).

Poco a poco, todos los personajes implicados en el libro serán eliminados para que el secreto sobre extranas confabulaciones internacionales diversas, e incluso contradictorias políticamente, queden ocultas.

One of my most favorite latino movies! The Pacific War (1879-1883) put the Chileans against the allied of Peru and Bolivia. Nowadays, this subject still divides our countries. "Caliche Sangriento" shows us the adventure of a group of Chilean soldiers lost in the Atacama's desert. During this journey, the Captain (Duvauchelle) and the Lieutenant (Vadell) argue about the real reasons who led Chile into the war. It was not homeland's defense, but economical interest. This point of view made quite an impression in Chile, and this movie was intended to be forbidden. More than a war movie, this is more like a western one. We have desert, great spaces, tough guys, honour conflict and some bullets. "Caliche Sangriento" is one of the best Chilean films.
