Eye like a strange balloon: A whimsical allegory on man’s journey through time and space. Vincent, the junkie chronicles: a work-in-progress documentary takes an unblinking look at the life of an addict. Big brass ring: Malcolm McDowell plays a controversial political icon who verbally spars with a beautiful journalist.

Documentary about economic development in Cuba, particularly the effort to boost output of sugar cane. This film is made from a compilation of newsreel footage from the Cuban film institute and from Santiago Alvarez's film Despegue a las 18.00 (Departure 18:00).

The second entry in Marker's three-short 'video haiku' series focusing on animals, Bestiare. This is an entrancing study of one of Marker's favorite animals, the owl. A visit to an aviary yields a rhythmically edited series of close-ups of the rapidly rotating or intently staring feathered heads of a colorful variety of owls, accompanied by an ambient electronic soundtrack.

Marker’s OWLS AT NOON Prelude: The Hollow Men is a 19-minute looped media installation commissioned by the Museum to celebrate its reopening in Manhattan. The text- and image-based media work, which is the first in Marker’s ambitious multipart history of the 20th century, takes as its starting point T. S. Eliot’s poem ‘The Hollow Men’ (1925), which evokes the repercussions of World War I.

Made shortly after the death of Brazilian revolutionary Carlos Marighella, this documentary reconstructs his life and political struggle through interviews with friends and comrades. It examines his role in the resistance against Brazil’s military dictatorship and his death in a 1969 police ambush.

On October 21, 1967, over 100,000 protestors gathered in Washington, D.C., for the Mobilization to End the War in Vietnam. It was the largest protest gathering yet, and it brought together a wide cross-section of liberals, radicals, hippies, and Yippies. Che Guevara had been killed in Bolivia only two weeks previously, and, for many, it was the transition from simply marching against the war, to taking direct action to try to stop the 'American war machine.' Norman Mailer wrote about the events in Armies of the Night. French filmmaker Chris Marker, leading a team of filmmakers, was also there.
