Based on the Jules Verne's novel "Danube pilot." The film is set during Bulgarian people struggle against the Turkish oppressors. Bulgarian Sergei Ladko embarks on a voyage on the Danube under the guise of traditional "Danube Anglers League" competition in order to bring the rebels money to buy weapons.

The film is a story of a double journey. The main character of the first journey is the author himself, who, while sitting in his customary café, suddenly realises that he has hallucinations. The psychologist reassures him that all this is merely repression. The symptoms, however, appear again. Soon it turns out that the author has a brain tumour. Professor Pötzl in Vienna suggests operation right away. The intervention, through which he is awake, is carried out in a Stockholm clinic.

He travels the country as a fire inspector. He arrives in the small town for a week-long visit, where he meets his old friend József Máté. Máté is a manager, proud of his achievements and spoiling his beautiful young wife Panni. But she's tired of the dollhouse and wants to work, but her husband won't let her. Tired and disillusioned, Palotas immediately senses and understands his wife's dullness and boredom, and encourages Panni to leave her husband...

The Toth family resides in Northern Hungary. The couple has a daughter and a son, the latter a member of the armed forces. When his weary major is ordered to take a vacation, the son talks him into a visit to his family home. Comedy ensues when the Toths go overboard trying to make things pleasant for the visiting major in hopes of an easier life for their son the soldier.

Andras Kovacs, a leading light of the new Hungarian cinema, brought his "docudrama" technique to his 1966 film Cold Days. The story deals with the systematic slaughter of Bosnians by Hungarian fascists during World War II. Kovacs is not quite a revisionist historian, but he does cast doubt on the "official" interpretations of this horrible human-rights violation. Nor is the audience allowed to slip into complacency: it comes as a shock to discover that many of the characters whom we're rooting for turn out to be the villains! Both written and directed by Kovacs, Cold Days was originally released as Hideg Napok.

After the failure of the Kossuth's revolution of 1848, people suspected of supporting the revolution are sent to prison camps. Years later, partisans led by outlaw Sándor Rózsa still run rampant. Although the authorities do not know the identities of the partisans, they round up suspects and try to root them out by any means necessary.
