Le documentaire Les Enfants terribles du cinéma raconte l’histoire méconnue de l’un de ces carrefours de la cinéphilie, OBJECTIF 49, dont le point culminant aboutit à l’organisation du Festival du film maudit de Biarritz, durant l’été 1949, initié par Jean Cocteau alors au sommet de sa carrière cinématographique. À Biarritz, des films qualifiés de "maudits" furent projetés car ils n’avaient pas encore rencontré leur public ou avaient été interdits par la censure. Une sélection qui offre du cinéma une vision radicalement différente de celle d’autres festivals comme celui de Cannes. Toute une génération de cinéastes en activité fut alors mise à l’honneur : René Clément, Robert Bresson, Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, Eric Rohmer...
