A strong sophomore album

The Bestiary - Review

The Bestiary is a respectable follow-up to 2024's Into the Realm. While individual songs may stand out more on their debut release, this second work feels more cohesive as an album. The throwback doom/classic metal riffs are still here, along with Riley Pinkerton's Stevie Nicks-influenced vocals. Some metalheads find the band to be a bit gimmicky, with the heavy fantasy theming and costumes, but even without the visual aspect Castle Rat is a fun listen.
