Saturday Night - Review

Feel like there is room for either a factual docudrama about the creation of Saturday Night Live that synthesizes the various memoirs and oral histories that have been published over the years, or a wild tone-poem fever-dream depiction of the same events that dips into wild flights of artistic license. But this movie attempts both and fails to bring 'em together in a way that feels authentic to the energy of the original show or the people involved, beyond some extremely broad-strokes stuff. Yeah, we all know that Chevy Chase was/is an asshole, but the characterization of icons like Jim Henson and Gilda Radner seem way off the mark. A real missed opportunity!
