A well-executed, low-budget slasher film with nice gore effects and better than average acting than one would expect from such an amateur production. It's sense of humor does tend to get in the way of things though, leading to plenty of moments that don't contribute to the overall plot. Did we really need to watch that one guy get arrested by sadistic local cops? Or witness his friend accidentally do a whole bunch of mushrooms and run around the woods? The scenes just feel like padding meant to help the movie reach feature length. Luckily, both directors have a clear love for the genre. Billy Club comes off as Friday the 13th with a baseball motif and I mean that as a compliment. There are boobs, blood, and a surprisingly decent plot tying the whole thing together. If you're a horror enthusiast it's worth putting up with the subpar special effects and occasional boneheaded decision made the experienced filmmakers behind things in order to witness a movie made by some people who are just as big of '80s slasher fans as you are.
