Luigi Did It Better
I feel like there's a lot of stories like this, where the "villain" is some "unhinged anarchist" that we're supposed to disagree with, except that they're 1000% correct. Then somewhere in the process it becomes apparent that the villain is too relatable, so they have to throw in a bunch of legitimately evil actions that no one could support. It always feels like an afterthought, because those actions are always wildly inconsistent with everything else the character has been shown to believe in.
Long story short... This movie, like so much else in American culture, is just rich people propaganda.
