a review of 水牛城66
this is definitely the most conflicted i have been on a film. i think that christina ricci is great throughout however her character's writing is bizarre. with each of her lines layla seems more than aware of billy's narcissism, as the film progresses this never amounts to anything and seemingly she falls into his pocket. without any research into gallo, Buffalo 66 seems to be gallo writing and acting out his own narcissism. in that respect, the ending may be the best demonstration of his narcissism. to give billy a redemption arc is desperately not self aware. however, as a result of its flaws, i feel that the film achieves a more insightful and deep impression of the narcissism that brought it about. in the case that gallo is not the narcissist he comes across as, the writing and acting of billy is incredibly well done. cinematography is wonderful, audio mix is wonderful, good job
