Interesting but not a must-see

Werewolves are kind of played out, but this Blumhouse release attempts to do something interesting with them by having a father newly infected with lycanthropy try to protect his family while simultaneously struggling against his growing animalistic urges. The scenery is atmospheric, at turns beautiful and oppressive (although set in Oregon the movie was apparently filmed in New Zealand). The second half of the movie struggles a bit with pacing, and the fact that there's only so much you can do with werewolves. I didn't regret spending my time on this movie, but neither is it one to go to great lengths to see. Catch it if it's streaming on a service you already subscribe to.
