Angels Suck, Dude

Honestly, this is movie is far more fun than I was expecting. Biblical horror often is really boring to me, but there's some great gore and sfx and explosions here, they sprinkle the angel lore on fairly light for what they could have, Christopher Walken is absolutely perfectly cast as the big bad. I really liked Eric Stoltz for the relatively short period of time he's in the film, and Viggo as Satan himself was a brilliant casting move, I loved it, he's part menacing fallen angel, part Dark Bugs Bunny. It looks really nice for a director who only did this one film and was normally a screenwriter for most of his career. Could it be better? Absolutely, it is a total b-film, no cinematic masterpiece, but it knows exactly what it is and leans in with scenery chewing aplomb.
