Bolder than The Karelian Isthmus and conceptually superior to later attempts at progressive but radio-friendly '90s metal, Tales From the Thousand Lakes might just be Amorphis' best recording. This record is heavy, yet never succumbs to the inane extremes common to the melodic death metal genre. The guitars and drums are in ample supply, and a rare attention to arrangement and production really sets this disc apart. The guttural vocal work isn't for every metal fan, but the neo-prog instrumental work and overall heaviness should impress those turned off by the throaty rants. In a possible attempt to widen the band's appeal, Tomi Koivusaari briefly sings, which doesn't exactly work out. These moments of confusion are short-lived, though, and they hardly blemish the release. The subtle addition of keyboards is a nice touch -- Amorphis' captivation with the instrument would soften later efforts. So even though Tales From the Thousand Lakes heralded a shift toward later, inferior recordings, the new and old are balanced precisely on this 1994 Relapse offering.

一般那些Grindcore（碾核）的纯化论者都认为那些极短、极响、极乱的“歌”才是真正的杰作，但在这种思想下创作出来的东西往往只是一些隆隆作响的吉他Riff大串联，没有真正完整意义上的歌曲。作为Grindcore最早的创建者之一，Carcass在这张专辑中改变了方向，采用了较为传统的歌曲结构，听众们可以听清歌曲的结构，也可以在一般的歌曲中听到真正的旋律。但从歌词上，乐队仍然坚持着“恶心到底”的死亡路线，估计国内的听众一般不会明白他们的歌词再说什么（为了你的身心健康着想这是好事），但只要你在他们歌名中随便找几个单词查查，便可以知道Carcass是一群对尸体、腐烂、疾病等等有着超乎寻常热情的变态青年，这可能也是为什么这支乐队里的每一个人都是素食主义者的原因。（当你面对一块牛排时，有人却告诉你那是一具即将腐烂的尸体时，你可能也很难保持食欲吧）
乐队对于专辑中歌曲的排列也煞费苦心，单数是较慢但极沉重的歌，而双数是极快的犹如龙卷风夹杂冲锋枪扫射一样的歌，这使你心律不齐、呼吸不畅，聆听这世界上最重型的音乐的确是一种考验。特别是专辑的开首曲“Buried Dreams",阴森可怕的旋律和充满厄运气息的吊碴一声声逼近，对音乐稍有敏感的人很快就会发现：这下绝对是死定了！

War Eternal is the upcoming ninth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. It is set to be released on June 10, 2014 by Century Media.

The arrangements are tight and performances strong (guitarists Anders Bjorler and Martin Larsson clearly have practiced their riff action many a time), and the occasional extra touch like acoustic guitar or notable space in the production, holding back at points rather than just grinding things into the ground, never hurts. 'Cold' is a good example of soft electric guitar break about 2 minutes in, while the instrumental 'Into the Dead Sky' consists of nothing but similarly calm guitar and whooshing background noises. 战斧乐队组建于1992年初，是国内最早的死亡重金属风格乐队之一。乐队成立初期主要以老式敲击死亡金属为风格主线，代表作品有《天葬》（又名-往世）发行于《摇滚北京II》、《报应》发行于《成长状态》等合辑唱片中，并藉此建立了最初的名声。
90年代后期，乐队受到当时较为流行的音乐元素（硬核金属、工业金属、说唱乐）的影响，创作上发生了改编，在新世纪首张专辑中得到了充分的体现（如：“光天化日”、“拒绝繁殖”、“死城”等）。
因此这张专辑是战斧乐队后期音乐的体现，和早年的死亡金属已经分道扬镳。专辑里的单曲《下沉》是乐队在旋律、内涵上的最佳表现，获得了乐迷的一致推崇。
