Can you trust oil companies to lead the green transition? Is deep sea mining for rare metals better than drilling for oil? Will having a lesbian couple on the show enrage conservatives? The answer might not surprise you!

The movie takes the perspective of a group of workers whose lives don't matter to a greedy, murdereous corporation like BP. That's true and fine, but the problem with these corporations is much larger and is killing way, way more people than the ones we see here.
None of that is adressed by the movie in any way. In fact, this might be the kind of anti-oil movie that a Trump voter would like: no pollution, no climate change, no capitalism as organized apocalypse machine (but we do have greedy incompetent bosses and a working class, that's something), instead, the scope narrows on the personal drama of the working man who is screwed by the company. And the spectacular "accident" itself.
It's an effective strategy for an entertaining movie, but unlesss I've missed something, this was a missed opportunity.

This could have been a fun dark comedy, but Shyamalan Shyamalaned it all over the place. Again.
Welp, at least it was nice seeing Zekey boy.

This one might be climbing to the top of my reading list on the subject, let's hope it isn't expensive.

Surprisingly good old-school adventure show, smarter and more visually attractive than I expected, character driven with an anti-corporate, anti-colonialism streak. And it doesn't let realism get in the way of giant sea monsters or just having fun.
No wonder the asshats at Disney canceled it and even refused to distribute this UK production, renewing instead my hatred for Disney, but the season is still watchable as a standalone mini-series.
Also, if you think that a couple of Indian characters are there only as comic relief, give the show a bit more time. They aren't.

finished watching Get Away 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑
This could have worked as a short film, but there just isn't enough going on here to drag a movie for one and a half hours.
Anyway, I can't give Nick Frost less than 5/10. I would if I could.
finished watching Survive 🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑
Balancing drama and killer crab attacks must be a difficult thing to do. Cloverfield managed to pull it off pretty well, Starship Troopers and even Tremors (I know those were Graboids, not Craboids (I'm not sorry)) did it by not taking themselves so seriously. This movie... just couldn't find the right tone to fit its pieces together.
Also, while the choice of natural settings and lighting are good enough to suspend my disbelief, even though it's dry soil on what's supposed to be the recently drained ocean, the sparsely staged debris is enough to remind us that we're watching a movie without enough budget to buy literal trash.
There are some cool apocalyptic shots, with lonely artificial objects contrasted with the natural landscape, and I hate to give a low score when I see that an effort was made by a small production team, but I can't recommend this movie to anyone.
finished watching Nosferatu 🌕🌑🌑🌑🌑
Maybe, if I cared about any of the characters, I could appreciate everything this movie is excellent at. But I didn't and I couldn't.
Or maybe not, maybe I didn't care because I'm too tired of remakes and new takes and retellings and the same thing under another perspective or whatever excuse producers use this week to hide their fear of not making their ROI.
Fuck you, suits, I watched this for Eggers and Skarsgård, because I like them, because they're current, there was no need to squeeze the past yet again.
Minus too many stars because you're cowards.

Pretty bad, not gonna lie, but the 80's aesthetics give it some undeserved charm. If you only ask for neon lights and practical explosions (which look so much better than CGI fire), you might as well watch it.
And the antagonist uses a flying alien CD that kills people, so there's that too.

This will offend the Jordan Peterson's fanboy type, which is a plus, but seems a bit... off. Not sure if this is the right way to tackle the heavy topics this movie ends up talking about. Does it try to be feminist but fails? Does it get it right but, as a movie, it isn't that good? I don't know enough to tell.
Not rating it because I'm not sure about how many stars it should get, not because it's a zero stars flick. Also, I hate rating things.

Sometimes fun over the top violence, with music, lots of colour and an unexpected commentary about Big Tech's power and our supply chain. I liked it better than Bullet Train and a lot more than Snakes on a Plane.

Drags through too many clever twists and turns, but the ending makes up for the overly long runtime.
