I got an old friend back from the repair shop. There is a dedicated official Contax repair company in Japan - the only part left when Kyocera ceased production. They have all the original parts for their cameras.
They replaced the lens retraction mechanism, fixed the flash, replaced the control knob, and did an all-over cleaning and adjustment. Should be good to go for another 25 years.

A question for #Film fans:
I keep thinking about a film I saw on TV several years back (1980's). Guessing it was a 60's/70's release.
World War 2 (1?) plot involved some British (Australian?)civilian operating a river boat (I believe it was set in a jungle region). Climax involves a German (Japanese?) military vessel.
I try searching now and then, but results don't seem to match my (vague, now) memory of the particular film.
Any ideas?
