Things I Love About Linux: 🥰
*Stability (only 1 crash so far and zero freezes in half a year)
*Choices (so many choices of programs to customize your experience!)
*Subscription-free
*GIMP ❤️❤️❤️
*No annoying popups (unless I set up Linux to give me them)
*Easier on the eyes
*No pressure to use AI
*No celebrity gossip, news or other US toxic culture in my face
*Installing programs via Bash (because it’s fun)
*Reliability
There are many more but I have to eat breakfast. 😁
My #StarterPack for #Linux #SelfHosting
1) Heimdall start page for your LAN
2) Shiori bookmarks
3) Copyparty for filesharing through web or FTP
4) Kanboard Kanban board
5) Kiwix for offline website content
6) calibre-web for ebooks
7) Hyper8 for self-hosted video content, like a poor man's #Youtube.
8) mkdocs for a markdown-based wiki
I self-host all of these, using #nginx as the web server in all cases. These all consume very little RAM and CPU, and would run very performantly on a Raspberry Pi 5 2GB, with a decent SSD. No #docker needed for any of them.

I wrote a blogpost about making AMD Zen3(+)-based Lenovo IdeaPads work with Linux (they have an annoying suspend/s2idle-related bug).
It also has a section about creating ACPI fake-devices to work around "Could not resolve symbol [...], AE_NOT_FOUND" ACPI errors.
Some great #linuxaudio news/rumors:
I've been told that the Serum 2 #synth #plugin for #linux has entered (or will soon enter) private #beta state. 🤯
I reached out to Steve and will share more as soon as I hear back. 😎
The removal of TrueNAS legacy (CORE) leaves space for a tenth button.
What would you like?
The button need not be FreeBSD-specific. Discussions frequently attract users of other systems.
The sidebar of r/freebsd is crowded (very tall), and this cluster of buttons is relatively far down, so I doubt that it will gain much attention. Still, cafe community thoughts are welcome.
Three screenshots:
1. an overview of <https://www.reddit.com/r/freebsd/top/?sort=top&t=day> before removal of the TrueNAS button
2. the entire sidebar as represented at <https://sh.reddit.com/r/freebsd/about/>
3. focus on the other sub shortlist, and the other shortlist, within the sidebar.
Thanks.
