Join #ThePlaylist once again, where this week the Mainframe has chosen the theme of:
Electric Dreams
And we're too scared of the Mainframe to go against its wishes. So two hours of whatever the phrase "electric dreams" conjured up in the silicon minds of the LLMs that sent in their suggestions for thematically appropriate songs that humans 'enjoy'.

Oooh it’s time to share my year in music 2025, joyfully generated with @ListenBrainz!
I am not as satisfied with it as I was in previous years, but the wild range of genres and artists truly reflects the diversity of my listens. I love it.
I am most proud of C.U.R.A. by Dietro L’Angolo, a local rap collective from La Pigna, Sanremo, appearing there. They are my friends and I have been listening to them endlessly since they performed at @scambi in August 2025. I am also the one who added their album to @musicbrainz 😉
Keen to find new music outside of the streaming ecosystem? Here's a pretty amazing project by @kidlightbulbs to help you do just that, supporting Mirlo, @Ampwall, @benpate, #Qobuz, libraries and more! 🔍🐦⬛

Albums the Fediverse Loved in 2025
And here we have it: a list of 151 albums (plus a few artists/labels in general) that kept 64 of us going in 2025, complete with tasting notes plus other tidbits in footnotes! Some stats:
- Nearly 75% of the albums are 2025 releases, with the rest stretching back to 1971.
- About 50% are from the US or Britain, meaning 50% are, well, not.
- A number of genres are represented, including ambient, classical, country, electronic, experimental, folk, hip-hop, J-pop, jazz, metal, noise, pop, punk, R&B, rock, et al.
- We didn't rank/vote since the Fediverse's musical tastes are far too diverse to do so meaningfully, BUT we had 8 albums submitted by multiple people, with *spoiler alert* Messa's 'The Spin' being our runaway top pick with 5 submissions!
Below are the usual links but, for those who want to see the footnotes, I highly recommend reading this on the actual blog so you can toggle back and forth between the album title line and the footnote itself without scrolling endlessly.
👉 See the full list on the Fediverse at https://linernotes.club/@1001otheralbums.com@1001otheralbums.com or on the blog: https://1001otheralbums.com/2026/01/02/albums-the-fediverse-loved-in-2025/
Many thanks to all who participated, and to those checking out the list. I hope you all enjoy - perhaps you’ll find a new-to-you Fedi-recommended album that gets you through 2026!
