Looking Up (Walhalla Memorial, Donaustauf)

#Pareidolia #Architecture #Art #FensterFreitag #WindowFriday #Photography

A low-angle interior view captures the magnificent, highly ornate classical architecture and coffered ceiling of the Gedenkstätte Walhalla near Regensburg, Germany.

A richly decorated, gilded coffered ceiling featuring deep blue panels stamped with intricate star-burst patterns, divided into sections punctuated by large rectangular glass skylights that allow daylight to pour into the hall.

Sculpted figures stand along the upper tiers and structural alcoves, upholding the heavy entablatures in a style inspired by ancient Greek temples.

A dramatic low-angle perspective looking through a narrow, vertical crevice between two rugged, weathered grey rocks. Patches of pale lichen and deep fissures texture the stone faces. Above the rocky cleft, an overcast sky hangs heavy with diffuse grey clouds, through which a pale, hazy sun burns like a soft luminescent sphere, framing a distant sliver of misty, open ground below.
