The latest round of #protests in #Iran is large, significant and sharp. We shall hope and see if the people of Iran have success this time

Here's a little #socialMedia wrinkle and it is amazing

#Women have been lighting pictures of the #Ayatollah on fire, and lighting cigarettes with it

Burning photos of the supreme leader is a serious offense

Women smoking is restricted

Not a single (mandatory) #hijab to be seen

One of the things I really missed about Twitter after leaving there a few years ago were the independent, on-the-ground, local #journalists covering #protests, local weather #disasters, etc. It was a *great* way to get accurate, timely info.

>>> I'd love to be able to get a list of local people doing this kind of work if you know of anyone on Mastodon. For now, I've come across this guy on bluesky who's got good coverage of #LA #ICE action: @ acatwithnews.bsky.social

I'd forgotten that, back in 2019, I adapted the shot of 'tank man' in Tiananmen Square. It feels even more relevant now.

MSNBC reporter at the 1:15 mark.

“The chaos you’re seeing is not the result of peaceful protestors, it’s the result of actions of law enforcement, specifically the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department.”

I have created an US-sized (3.5x2in) version of the #FediCard , as well as written some explanations and instructions.

I would _really_ appreciate if someone here who participates in the upcoming #NoKings #protests for #July4th would print some of these out, distributed them, and told me what the reaction of the recipients was.

Anti-Trump-Proteste

("Do you hear that too, Sam?")

#USA #Trump #Musk #MAGA #protests #cartoon #karikatur

Karikatur.

This is @Alex_alott on Ig. In the words of her fellow #LosAngeles downtown #ICE facility protester:

"@alex_alott has been found Not Guilty! This is a huge win for Alexandria and for everyone standing against fascism.
Remember what they did to her. She was targeted, assaulted, hospitalized, imprisoned for 5 days, and falsely accused of assault on a federal officer. The U.S. Government put HER on trial for assault, despite HER being the one who was assaulted..."

Makes my soul feel good to see this kind of protest activity pissing off the bad guys. Although I'm half expecting some attempt to outlaw these frog costumes in the near future. #politics #protests

Three people dressed in large, inflatable frog costumes stand together at night, holding a sign that says “FROGS TOGETHER STRONG” with an illustration of two frogs shaking hands. The scene appears to be lively and humorous, likely part of a public event or protest

Old but good: game recognizes game

The guy who vandalized Trump's Walk of Fame star in 2016 bailed out the guy who did it in 2018. The former is a scion of the wealthy Otis family of Otis elevator fame.

Next time you're listening to muzak in an Otis elevator, remember that.
