Hey some nerd (me) is quoted here in this Columbia Journalism Review story about how low-power FM radio stations weathered federal funding cuts by being too small to be eligible for federal funding... in contrast to NPR. The invulnerability of the truly grassroots? 📻💚

Our annual fundraising drive has begun - and runs through the end of Wednesday, October 22.

You can see our creative pledge premiums on offer and pledge at: https://www.wmbr.org/fr/pledge2025.php

Below are our 2025 stickers, which all donors will receive.

WMBR is noncommercial radio, offering quality programming that can’t be found anywhere else. We are 100% volunteer, with no paid staff. This is rare – even among other noncommercial stations.

Our annual fundraising drive begins tomorrow, Thursday Oct. 16, and runs through Wednesday Oct. 22.

This is the one week of the year that we ask you, our listeners, to help support our radio station and keep us broadcasting for another year! Tune in all week long for special programs, and maybe a few surprises.

You'll be able to donate at https://wmbr.org

Love is over and done on this week’s episode of MRR #Radio with Erika Elizabeth.

Pssst! Looking for He? Or Li? Or need help with the periodic system in general? Look no further: There will be…

RADIO IRRTUM! (on air from #Berlin)

…with the finest sonic chemicals around. :)

↓↓↓ Deutsch Version below unten ↓↓↓

Da next issue of #RadioIrrtum! will arrive this Saturday, 2026/02/14, 8:00pm UTC+1/Berlin time/CET. At Alex Berlin at DAB+ K12D in Berlin and Brandenburg and worldwide at https://www.alex-berlin.de/radio-livestream .

#Radio Irrtum! is a German language #radioShow exploring the sonic vastness of the #underground. Emitted transmissions may raise attention for new unheard #music all over this planets audio spectrum. Don't worry about the #GermanLanguage aspect - it's all about the #music!

So what's in it for you?

- Post or lets say not so post #Grunge
- Oldskuhl #Dub with at twist
- #Beatmaker stuff from various places
- glitchy UK #Electro
- crazy Japanese hispeed #Breakcore
- textbook #140Bass
- lots of #experimental electronic things
- fresh # Eggpunk
- #shoegaze Goth
- #ElectricCello sounds from #Vienna

That may already sound exciting, but it's getting better, once you know we have #FediverseArtists in here like the musical wunderkind @herrkaschke or the UK audio jack of all trades @inpc . It's also the first time I'll play more tracks that aren't on #Spotify than tracks that actually are. Yeah! And lots of #CreativeCommons content as well. Because Radio Irrtum! will never be friends with the music industry. As there is no "industry" in real music.

Anyway: If at least a bit interested in kewl new unusual #music, tune in! 📻

I'll post playlist + manuscript later here. And if you have questions? I'll gladly answer Just ask. CU all on Saturday! :)

- irrem Hispeed Breakcore
- 140er Bass

RADIO IRRTUM! (on air from #Berlin)

↓↓↓ Deutsch Version below unten ↓↓↓

Da next issue of #RadioIrrtum! will arrive this Saturday, 2026/01/17, 8:00pm UTC+1/Berlin time/CET. At Alex Berlin at DAB+ K12D (changed!) in Berlin and Brandenburg and worldwide at https://www.alex-berlin.de/radio-livestream .
(yes: sadly no more FM from now).

#Radio Irrtum! is a German language #radioShow exploring the sonic vastness of the #underground. Emitted transmissions may raise attention for new unheard #music all over this planets genre spectrum. Don't worry about the #GermanLanguage aspect - it's all about the #music!

This time we'll hang out a bit more with musicians from the electronic side, but pls bear with me 🐻, as we have…

- #NeoSoul so nice you wanna copulate to
- #HipHop / #Beatmaker Stuff
- a serious Berlin #DnB shootout
- #Acid in various flavors
- lots of #experimentalMusic of glitchy #IDM alike nature even with manipulated tape loops n stuff, so it touches the realm of #MusiqueConcrète then and when
- also #Punk in ya face

The #AcidDecember25 event is of course featured – and with this (and others) comes a lot of #CreativeCommons licensed content; music u wont find on #Spotify (so I shall better tag it #noSpotify) and of course there are #FediArtists featured, like @revengeday , @DFFSoundSystem , or @Solo1 (yes Solo1, I am late - didn't realize you are right here among us!).
Also I try to not speak Arabic. Huge thanks to @jrp and @Sendekomplex 4 helping me with valuable advice here.
AND! I am so happy to have a living legend of the #Krautrock area right in here, without playing Krautrock in the slightest. Oh yes. It will make sense, once you listen into it :) My thanks 2 @jazzblogger 4 pointing my nose 2 this direction.

See? Radio Irrtum! is not only a hobby of mine, it is a cooperate effort across the Fediverse to get a beautiful sound mix of positive insanity.

Unfortunately the sound quality of my voice is… bad – can't help it. Am not @ home at the moment – am supporting my parents during an awkward situation onsite - no "studio" env here. U will understand me anyhow :). Tried to hide it with a space echo alike effect, but well…

Anyway: If at least a bit interested in kewl new unusual #music, tune in! 📻

I'll post playlist + manuscript later here (may take a day or two this time). Have questions? I'll gladly answer (just this time with a delay)!
CU all! :)

It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's #ThePlaylist

This week we have another guest theme, this time from @FloatingOnion who flew in (without a cape) to ask for songs about:

Heroes

He wanted to hear YOUR most heroic tunes. He wanted to hear songs that'll save people from a hijacked passenger jet, or have the ability to leave the last chocolate Hob Nob in the packet. He wanted songs that were strong, and fast, and fresh from the fight, and by golly, he got 'em.
