In messing about with the V & A building photos I forgot about My Favourite Thing in Dundee.
LEMMINGS!
Oh how I loved that game.

LEMMINGS!

Interplay‘s Lord of the Rings was the first big box game I bought from my own money. It was on sale at the local Karstadt mall. I never completed the game, but loved it so much! What was your first game, bought with your own money?

💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 We took a look at MDK, developed by Shiny Entertainment and released in 1997.
This game is quite the change for the team who put this together, as previously they were known for bright cartoony platformers such as Cool Spot, Aladdin and Earthworm Jim.
But despite their unfamiliarity with developing 3D shooters, MDK was very well received at the time.
What's it like to play it now? Let's find out!
Lotus, one of my childhood favorite car game (available on Amiga/Sega/DOS), just had a modern mobile "remake".
I guess it's likely not an authorized IP, so you are not driving a car but riding a motorcycle😅, but the visual and music are so familiar (albeit different) and you just can't miss that.
Speaking of the music of the original game, it's probably one of the best Amiga had: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG4kSGGZoN8
and the link to the game if anyone cares: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1163605498
My wife knows how to communicate with me. She just sent me this image - and I must obey 😆
the aftermath of #Crowdstrike is still visible
💾NEW PODCAST!💾 We took a look at Machiavelli the Prince, developed by Holistic Design and published by Microprose in 1995.
The game has nothing to do with Machiavelli, who was from Florentine while the game is set in Venice, and who lived after the events of this game.
While not as famous as other MPS titles such as Colonization, there is a lot to love here. Computer Gaming World named it "Strategy game of the year" for a reason!
Throwback to childhood days spent with Zak McKracken!
I vividly remember those moments stepping out of Zak's house, him turning back, and casually remarking, "Looks good." It's funny how some game moments stick with you.
Now, on days like today, when the evening wraps up a genuinely good day, I find myself metaphorically looking back at the day's events. And just like Zak, I think to myself: "Looks good." It's a simple phrase, yet it perfectly captures the satisfaction and contentment of a day well spent.

After my having 3 Sinclair computers, I moved on to Atari ST, for a week... before I switched it for an Amiga. At the time, Atari and Amiga were the big names in home computing, while those with more funds might have gone with a Mac or a PC.
What did you use?

💾NEW PODCAST!💾 Back when we started out in 2017, one of our earliest members @toasty (being a keen cricket fan) asked "are there any cricket games for DOS?".
It turns out: there are! Lots of them, in fact.
We dove into the wacky world of DOS cricket and explored what's there.
Don't know how cricket even works? No worries, neither do we!
💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 In episode 95 we take a look at Wacky Wheels, developed by Beavis Soft and published by Apogee in 1994.
The SNES had Super Mario Kart, but we had Wacky Wheels and that's just as good, we thought. Especially those of us who hadn't played Super Mario Kart 😅
How does it hold up now? Let's find out!
