林奇说，整部片子都来源于他的一些感受，但是他不知道这些感受意味着什么，于是开始阅读圣经，直到读到其中某一句，恍然大悟。

全片充满“洞”和“柱”的形象，不言而喻本片跟“性“相关。背光下营造男主全片的焦虑形象最终在自我阉割中爆发，一度还被性欲冲昏了橡皮头。（验货情节够黑色幽默！）anyway，还是很难想通这种焦虑从何而来，工业时代人的“异化”？纯粹的生育恐惧？对于性这种原罪无法控制的恐慌？

片中还是可以看到很多林奇电影的元素，包括《双峰》、《穆赫兰道》... 林奇是个“作者”吧
